You may not have known, but Microsoft last month removed the ability to install Windows 11 using an offline user account, and even deleted the instructions for setting up a local account after installing the operating system.
Installing Windows 11 without online login remains blocked for regular users. However, Microsoft seems to be concerned about the possible legal implications by bringing the guide to setting up a PC without a Microsoft account back online. As a bonus, instructions are included for creating a password reset disk, useful for accessing accounts where the user has forgotten the password.
As part of a larger plan to eliminate Windows features deemed less important, Microsoft on June 17 removed the online guide that helped users set up a Windows 11 account with local authentication. However, the page titled “Change from a local account to a Microsoft account” has been reinstated, a sign that Microsoft has reversed its decision to prioritize corporate interests exclusively.
If you recently installed Windows 11 and want to set up a local account, you just have to navigate to the Settings menu, then the Accounts tab, and select the Your info section. Here, you need to choose the option “Sign in with a local account instead”, and follow the steps to enter your username, password and password hint, finishing with “Sign out and finish”.
So, you can no longer set up a Windows 11 PC without an Internet connection from the start, but you can fix the problem later.
Previously, you could enter an email address blocked by Microsoft during Windows 11 installation, and when the error message appeared, you could select the option to set up a local account. However, the “Offline Account” or “Sign in with a local account instead” options are no longer directly available.
hope it will keep it that way
