Test Drive Unlimited – Solar Crown release date and demo available

The Test Drive series is enriched with a new chapter: Solar Crown. After a decade-long hiatus since the release of Unlimited 2 in 2011, this new title has been meticulously crafted over the years.

Ever since 1987, when the first Test Drive game debuted, the series has been constantly evolving. Personally, I can't remember exactly which of them I first met – maybe it was the fourth or fifth. However, it was Test Drive Unlimited that really captured my interest and gave me an unforgettable experience. Its successor, Unlimited 2, was created by the same studio Eden Games, which, unfortunately, was absorbed and gradually disappeared from the landscape.

Now, Solar Crown is brought to life by studio Kylotonn, known for its recent contribution to the WRC series. Since the year 2020, they have started to make us curious about the “Test Drive”, maintaining the suspense without revealing a release date until recently.

Test Drive Unlimited – Solar Crown is scheduled to be released on September 12, and the standard edition will be available at the price of 50 $/euros.

Between June 6th and 17th, enthusiasts can download a demo via Steam to assess whether the game retains its original essence (for veterans) or is worth adding to the wishlist (for series newcomers).

Although I haven't had a chance to test it yet, the trailers have left me with mixed feelings. I hope that Solar Crown finds its place between Forza Horizon and The Crew. If the developers carefully studied the previous Unlimited titles and took into account the feedback of the fans, there is a good chance that it will be a success.
