Google Gemini arrives in Europe, replaces Assistant

The launch of Google's Gemini app, announced at the beginning of May, now marks its expansion into the UK and continental Europe. This new application, which replaces Google Assistant, is now available in more than 170 countries. Android device users have the option to install the Gemini app directly from the Play Store, and iOS users will be able to enjoy Gemini through the Google app in the near future. Until now, residents of the European Union had to resort to manual installation of APK packages.

It is important to note that Google Gemini cannot work concurrently with Google Assistant, requiring a choice between the two. Gemini is distinguished by its ability to perform actions more adapted to the context than its predecessor. It will also benefit from Gemini extensions, which will allow it to interact with other services such as YouTube Music.

Gemini is designed to assist you in writing emails, creating engaging content for social media, identifying items in photos, and answering general culture questions. It can provide support in homework and school projects as well as writing code for programmers. To use Gemini, a smartphone with at least 2 GB of RAM and the Android 10 operating system is required.

Compared to Google Assistant, Gemini does not include the functionality to control playback media, smart home devices (not all), reminders and automatic routines. However, it can play music via YouTube Music or initiate navigation in Google Maps. In addition, it is integrated with the artificial intelligence of Opera and Aria browsers. Gemini offers support for 19 different languages.
