It seems Samsung may have mistakenly confirmed the Galaxy S25 launch date

Samsung may have inadvertently revealed the release date of the much-awaited Galaxy S25, which could appear earlier than the previous model, the Galaxy S24.

Perhaps without realizing the significance of the information, Samsung Vietnam's marketing team, in an invitation for an online survey rewarded with discount coupons, mentioned a specific date for the distribution of those coupons. Although the invitation doesn't specify the product to which the 10% discount applies, the mention of January 5, 2025 could be a hint that that's when the Galaxy S25 series will officially launch.

As a reminder, the Galaxy S24 was launched on January 31, 2024, and the Galaxy S23 series on February 17, 2023, with Samsung following a release pattern that suggests the Galaxy S25's release date could follow the same pattern.

Launching in the early days of the new year, the Galaxy S25 could benefit from the “quiet” period after the winter holidays, catching the attention of fans who will be able to pre-order it well before the end of January. However, the launch rush could have a deeper motivation – the expected improvements to Apple Intelligence. Samsung may be trying to pre-empt the positive news from the Apple camp by previewing improvements to its own Galaxy AI platform, which will run on the new devices with generally superior performance to iPhone rivals.

However, a mere mention of the date in a Samsung invite is not a confirmation that this is the Galaxy S25 launch day. Especially since January 5, 2025 falls on a Sunday, and Samsung usually makes major announcements on weekdays. It is possible that the mentioned date refers to when the coupons will become valid, and the Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for a business day immediately following.

On the other hand, recent rumors suggest that Samsung's design team hasn't made any significant changes this year. The Galaxy S25 models appear to closely resemble the S24 series, with the exception of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which may get a slightly redesigned casing to be more comfortable to use, per fan demand. All models in the series are expected to come standard with Snapdragon 8 Elite and 12GB RAM. In terms of cameras, no major changes are expected, with Samsung continuing to focus on optimizing image processing, supported by stronger AI algorithms.
